Train with us in our purpose built gym, and on the slopes…
Welcome to X-Ten Winter Academy 2018; now in its 8th year we have an established and exciting programme that is sure to inspire, drive and provide hours of entertainment. With internationally recognised coaches we will make sure you progress in a safe and supportive environment. Be part of our team and reach your potential.
This years’ team consists of some of the most talented young skiers and snowboarders in New Zealand. So whether you’re four or forty, a beginner or a pro, join us for some of the most progressive and comprehensive training programmes and you too could be charging the slopes this winter.
We train and mentor all our team riders personally in NZ and abroad. Our programme includes, freestyle, freeski, big mountain and training on & off the slopes, plus for those aspiring coaches we have an instructor preparation and coaching programme with internationally recognised coaches.
The on-snow portion of the training is based on a series of intensive day clinics with a focus on family involvement. This allows athletes to enjoy skiing at other locations without interruption to family skiing. The programme is based at a variety of ski areas around Canterbury & Otago where we work closely with each mountain’s team to develop a terrain park, big mountain course or race track specifically for our riders!
We are unique in NZ in that our team trains once a week at our own purpose-built training facility. Our athletes have access to our coaches, trampolines, training floor, mini ramp, purpose built lecture theater, roll-in and foam pit allowing them to perfect their moves, improve gymnastic awareness and physical conditioning, put skis or a snowboard on your feet and try your first back-flip (or any trick) into a foam pit.
The Academy runs twelve months of the year with a Summer Camps for skiers and Snowboarders most years in either LAAX, Switzerland, Colorado, USA or Ruka, Finland through January. It is open to any skier, snowboarder, skater, scooter rider, parkour junkie, gymnast, biker…. aged 4+. So far our youngest is four and our oldest is 52. There are two teams: the Challenge and Elite. The Elite Team are our top six riders. The brands themselves are watching; from this team it is possible to be chosen as an international team rider. The Challenge Team is for those who wish to challenge themselves in regards to whatever facet of riding or sport they are into. There are no minimum clinics or sessions you must attend, join one or all. No experience is necessary.
HOW IT WORKS:
Each week you will spend one afternoon a week inside in our X-Ten Gym base with our coaches learning core freeride skills. We put you on a progression road that all our riders from beginners to elite travel on.
Grommies (4-12 yrs) – 5:00pm – 6:30pm (Tuesdays)
Rookies (10-18 yrs) – 5:00pm – 6:30pm (Tuesdays)
